Who We Serve

Our responsibility is you, each and every one of our clients. As an independent fiduciary, we only succeed when you succeed.

Individuals
families

Our typical client is an individual or family.  Each client’s “where” is different, so the solution we develop to help them get there will be different - no two client relationships look exactly the same. Likewise, no client relationship remains static: Often, there are multigenerational priorities with objectives and needs that evolve over time.  Here is a sample of a few ways DWMS assists individuals and families:

  • Determine the proper amount of cash to protect against inopportune invasion of investment portfolio.

  • Calculate the withdrawal rate from portfolio, either during retirement or before, and determine if it is sustainable.

  • Coordinate the investment allocation with the overall financial plan to meet goals and objectives .

  • Potentially minimize taxation by monitoring and projecting the tax return during the year.  Determine if decisions that impact income will have an unintended impact on Medicare premiums.

  • Determine risk management strategies to financially protect the estate for a surviving spouse or next-generation beneficiaries, such as children or grandchildren.

  • Advise on titling of each asset in an effort to avoid probate and / or impact the distributions of the next owner.

Federal
Employees

Federal employees typically have a wide array of programs and benefits available to them.  Knowing how to utilize these benefits for your specific situation can make a significant difference over the long term.  We assist each individual with addressing  the following topics:

  • When is the most advantageous time of the year to submit for retirement?

  • Will I be eligible for a FERS supplement annuity based on my projected income in retirement?

  • Will the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) continue to be beneficial after retirement? Is there a more efficient alternative in my specific case?

  • How do I coordinate my health insurance benefits in retirement with Medicare?

  • If I decide to continue working after my retirement from the government, what are the differences between acting as a contractor or employee?  If I act as a contractor, which business formation is preferable in my specific situation?
